The Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme (ISFAP) was introduced to help the less privileged and “missing” middle-income students who had intention of going to the university. The bursary covers selected fields of study at certain universities.
Regrettably, ISFAP does not cover the costs of the University of South Africa (Unisa) Postgraduate courses. Nevertheless, here are the courses they cover presently in the universities:

In order to qualify for ISFAP backing, scholars need to meet the introductory bursary conditions. The introductory entry conditions are as follows scholars need to be South African citizens and they should have a concerted ménage income of no further than R600 000 per annum.
The fees in which the bursary covers include the following

- Accommodation*
- Books*
- Meals Stipend*
- Cash allowance
- Academic (tutorials; academic development & extended programmes)
- Social support
- Life skills training
- Mentoring (first-year experience)
- Medical support (psycho-social support)
- Access to dedicated programme managers.
These measures are subsidised with a cap( maximum volume). These quantities may also depend on the tertiary institution.
To insure that the pupil is managing with their academic workload, the bursary tracks the pupil’s academic progress via the pupil academic gate. If scholars are floundering with the workload they’re encouraged to seek university support.
