According to a report by HAITU, nursing Education freights contended To Have Increased by 200%.
The Health and Allied workers Indaba Trade Union (HAITU). Stated that they’re floored at the 200 increase in nursing education freights. The Union Provincial Chairperson stated that they’re doubtful as to why there has been such a steep increase in the education freights.
According to the Health and Allied workers Indaba Trade Union( HAITU) Gauteng College of Nursing increased its nursing course from R3 000 to further than R11 000. The union has written to the star of the council and the Gauteng Health MEC.
The Union Provincial Chairperson Bafana Tshabalala stated that they’re doubtful as to why there has been such a steep increase in the education freights. Tshabalala stated that the council didn’t engage with the union to bandy the figure increase.
HAITU transferred a letter to the council star, still, the union was informed that the council doesn’t interact with unions. Tshabalala stated that the council star will only interact with the council’s Pupil Representative Council( SRC).
After multitudinous conversations with the council council, the SRC was unprofitable in stopping the education increase. Thus, the SRC reached out to the union to inform them about the education increase.
The Gauteng Health MEC has noted the union’s communication. And will revert to them once they’ve further information about the matter. The union has given the MEC seven days to respond to their written communication.
Tshabalala stated that if they don’t admit a response from the Department within seven days. They plan to march to the Department of Health. The union aims to insure that its members aren’t taken advantage of.
